Honours even for South Fifths

South Antrim Fifths made the trip to Downpatrick hoping to open their points tally for the season.

With nine of the squad never having played on gravel, the veterans of Wallace, Brown and McElhinney showed the young boys how it was done.

South pressed hard but failed to capitalise on their early pressure.

South started the second half and continued to take the game to Down.

Within two minutes of the restart Ben Faulkner picked the ball up at the edge of the circle, dribbled past two players and a reverse stick shot from the byline deflected in off the keeper.

Trevor Wallace picked the ball up just inside the Down half beat one player and fed the ball through to Ian McElhinney whose reflex shot skimmed the outside of the post. South continued to press looking to claim all 3 points but the match finished 1-1.
