Hot seat for Jeremy

Jeremy, who has been on the rallying scene for six years, is looking forward to the event as it provides an excellent opportunity to kick start his 2012 rallying campaign with his co-driver Rory Byrne from Newry.

Together they will tackle the tough Galway stages in their Group N Mitsubishi Evo9 prepared by CMS Motorsport in Dungannon. The car is in the blue and yellow livery of Rory’s company Modern Tyre Service which has two branches in Newry and 26 branches throughout Northern Ireland.

Galway Motor Club, organisers of the Safety Direct Galway International Rally, are delighted with their entry for this weekend’s event on February 4 and 5, the opening round of the 2012 Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

The event itself will be run over a new one day format with 10 stages, including the city centre Dyke Road stage, which was last run in 1998. There will then be nine challenging stages in County Galway.

Due to the new format and reduced entry fee, entries have flooded in and currently stand at over 140, which will make this event a fabulous start to the 2012 Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

To add to the excitement the rally will see the Irish debut of the Mini WRC car driven on the World Championship last year by Dungannon man Kris Meeke.

Commenting on the task in hand Jeremy said: “I am looking forward to the rally, its shaping up to be a good event. It will be important we have a good steady run to get some points on the board and start the year of as we mean to go on.”
