How locals stand at halfway stage - Hilden are tops as promotion likely

Hilden are having a good season in Private Greens Senior Three and they have a great opportunity to gain promotion.

Only Shorts are putting them under pressure at present and with two teams going up it looks likely this duo will be promoted.

Hilden B are having an unexpectedly good season after moving up to Junior Two when Junior Three was scrapped last season.

They may fall from their lofty position at present, but it can still be counted as a good year.

MALONE

Malone are having one of their best seasons ever and look likely to finish around the midway mark,though a point in the match last week did not help. They have been Senior Three whipping boys in the past, but that has now definitely passed with Malone likely to come up with more wins.

Garvey in tense battle

It is a tense affair in NIBA Division One with Dromore likely to take one of the relegation places, but who will take the second spot?

Garvey moved up to third place following a good run when they took 20 points from a possible 21. They did well in the NIBA Senior Cup and were unlucky not to reach the final. Garvey B are just about holding their own in a very competitive Division Four and they will hope to finish mid-table.

DROMORE

Dromore were not expected to well in NIBA Division One and they are likely to be relegated even after taking 1.5 points off leaders, Whitehead, in their final game before the break. However, a bonus for them is that the B team are punching above their weight in Division Five and have been in the top two. They may not gain promotion, but it is a good season so far and likely to continue that way.

LAGAN VALLEY

It has been a disappointing season so far for Lagan Valley in NIBA Division Five, but not really surprising as they lost two good leads through deaths. There are signs that things are looking up again, though and come the end of the season they should be alright and they did beat Dromore B in their last match.

FINAGHY

Finaghy are having a better season to date than last year and they will hope to build on this in NIBA Division Four. The B team are doing quite well in Division Seven, but have the perennial problem of a shortage of players, something they have battled against to good effect so far. But can it last?
