Hugh grabs the limelight

PORTSTEWART'S Hugh McAllister was the man of the moment, at the club's annual awards dinner on Saturday night.

The goalkeeper won a fantastic treble - Players’ Player of the Year, Player of the Year and the PRO’s Award.

And, the Ports’ goalkeeping coach, Alistair McGarvey, was quick to praise, the former Portrush keeper.

Alistair told Times Sport: “Hugh has been a pleasure to work with during the past season.

“He fully deserves the recognition for his efforts this season.”

Described as one of ‘the most consistent goalkeepers in Championship Two’ by McGarvey, 38-year old Hugh is set to continue his integral role with Portstewart next season.

“He has been a very important part of our team.

“The new management team at Portstewart have put together a team that will progress further next year, and they should take confidence that they have a top man wearing the number one jersey behind them,” said McGarvey.
