Hutchinson Tiles Winter League

THE 2010-2011 Hutchinson Tiles Winter League kicks off this Saturday, and with the addition of Glebe Rangers Old Boys the league now has a whopping 18 teams fighting for the title.

Last year's winners Hazelbank will start off as one of the favourites and having lost no key men coupled with the addition of a couple astute signings, will be thereabouts come the business end of the season.

Berthas FC were last year's nearly men having been runners up in all competitions. They lost their Portstewart men to a newly formed side from the coast which was a big blow to manager Chris Patterson but with a half dozen or so good signings in, they are another team that should be challenging for honours.

There's a lot of hype around the league about new boys Glebe Rangers. They have submitted one of the strongest squads in the league with plenty of players with experience up and down the leagues meaning they could be the team to beat this season.

The usuals such as Mountview, Riverside, Balnamore and Hillview are expected to be up there challenging and expect to see West Bann Athletic mixed in with these teams this year. Stephens Fleming's men had a strong second half of the season last year and with more new blood on board, they will prove a match for any team in the league.

Last year's basement boys Ballyrashane FC have recruited well in the off-season and with promising pre season results they will be looking a mid-table finish at worst.

Ballymoney men The Taverners had a torrid pre season and at one stage looked like they wouldn't make kick off but new manager Marshall Craig has worked wonders getting a squad together in time for the start.

All other managers have added to their teams during the off months, with squads looking bigger and better than ever before meaning this could be the toughest year yet in the history of the Hutchinson Tiles Winter league to pick up silverware.
