I felt the relief says McAllister

I WAS delighted for everybody connected with the club on Saturday.

The number of chances we created was really good and it was probably the best performance since I’ve come to the club. You can see the difference when the boys get a bit of confidence and can get it down and pass it.

Our hunger and will to win was exactly what I want from our players.

We’ve got talented players and we can play good football. There are going to be games where you’re going to have to dig in and grind out a result but we’ve got players who can do that and also play as well.

I keep encouraging the boys to bring what they do in training onto the pitch. They can’t be afraid of making mistakes, although being bottom of the league doesn’t help and it does dent your confidence.

A regards the red card, the referee had no choice but to send the player off. The player himself said it was a rush of blood to the head and both challenges were yellow cards. People say it’s hard to play against 10 men but the way we played, getting the ball wide, we stretched Ballymena. It was a really professional performance and I was delighted with it.

I felt the relief around the whole stadium when Misky’s goal went in to make it 2-0 because you were beginning to wonder if it was going to be one of those days. We had spoke about the Dungannon game when we conceded the late goal.

They had McCutcheon and Jenkins who are always capable of scoring goals but I don’t think Davey O’Hare had a real save to make for the whole game.

From 1 to 11, the boys were brilliant. It was exactly what I’m after. The only disappointment was that we didn’t score a few more goals.
