I have total faith in our players

GARETH Scott has roared a rallying call to his troops on the eve of two of the biggest games in the club's history.

Glebe face a double header with fellow relegation battlers Coagh which could resign the losing team to Championship 2 football next season.

But the Glebe boss is bullish ahead of the season-defining clashes, insisting the resurgent Ballymoney-based outfit has what it takes to continue their remarkable end of season form by picking up maximum points against their rivals.

"We are fully prepared technically, tactically, physically and mentally for the task ahead and that's why I have total faith in our players," Scott told Times Sport.

"There is no pressure whatsoever on Glebe Rangers.

"You only have pressure when you are not prepared to do something.

"These guys are more than prepared for the challenge ahead.

"Their application, enthusiasm, work-rate and desire is second to none.

"We are five points ahead of Coagh with two games remaining. They have five starting with Ards on Tuesday night so we really have to get the right results.

"Since I came in I have been aware of the titanic battle ahead but that's what it's all about.

"This is why Glebe Rangers wanted Irish League football.

"The club is more than geared to be a Championship club.

"I am very positive, very, very positive."

Glebe secured a credible point at home to fourth placed Carrick Rangers on Saturday - but were unlucky not to get all three.

A Neil McVicker strike early in the second half was chalked off by the referee to the bemusement of the Glebe contingent after the linesman deemed McVicker to have slotted home from an offside position.

Scott however took heart from the performance of his charges.

"We more than matched Carrick throughout the game," he said.

"The effort and application was excellent."

Joel Maddison came on to replace the injured Brian Kane at half-time and Maddison's performance between the sticks has left Scott with a selection headache ahead of this weekend's must-win game.

"I believe I have the best two goalkeepers around," he said.

"I am so, so lucky because there aren't many Championship managers can call on the likes of Brian Kane and Joel Maddison.

"Brian has been absolutely top class since I came here and when Joel was called upon he certainly answered the call.

"It is a headache but it is a beautiful headache to have.

"But I have those types of headaches all over the place in terms of selection issues.

"Joel came in and played exceptionally well while Brian has been in impervious form.

"Peter Kennoway has been one of our best players in recent weeks and returns from suspension and Kirk Brace is back."

Scott also singled out his backroom staff for their momentous contribution to the cause.

"I want to pay tribute to Peter Tweed, Gareth Moodie and Jeff Greer," he said.

"Their work behind the scenes has made my job so much easier. They are a big, big part of this group."

Meanwhile, a club spokesman has called for fans to again turn out in force for this weekend's must win match.

He said: "This is our final away game of the season and the supporters have been second to none to date.

"Let's have more of the same!

"A supporter's bus will leave the Manor Hotel at 11.30am. Come on the Glebe!"

*The numbers in this week's Glebe lotto were 4, 12 and 16.

There were no winners. Next week's jackpot is 375.
