I made mistake

Manager's view

WHEN I look back at the game, maybe we should have kept things as they were with Rory Hamill up with Tony Grant

Maybe we made a mistake in throwing him back into midfield. The intentions were just to keep him there for about five minutes after the sending off but in the end he remained there and we probably lost the game due to that.

There was no set plan to sit back as deep as we did and at half-time it was a case of carry on the good work. It was a good first 45 minutes but unfortunately we sat deeper, they equalised and that gave them the impetus to go on and win the game.

I can hold my hand up and say I made the mistake in bringing Rory back into midfield. Perhaps we should have gone to a 4-3-2 formation but these things happen.

The first goal was a good header from the unmarked Michael Halliday and the second was spectacular. It took a deflection and Andy (Plummer) had to reshape his body to try and get to it but it didn’t happen.

We could have equalised with a good free-kick from Barry Johnston and a good header from Conor Walsh but it wasn’t to be.

Before the sending off, Rory Hamill and Tony Grant both held the ball up well for us and Rory certainly made his physical presence felt. He held it up well and spread it about well and we looked a good unit. Tony put in a big shift and I’m very pleased with his performance as well.
