Ian's Royal win - just what the doctor ordered

DOCTOR Ian Kerr won the Monthly Medal at Royal Portrush Golf Club at the weekend with a net score of 71.

One dropped shot at the par four seventh gave Ian 37 out and a birdie four at the tenth brought him back to level par. Sixteen and eighteen saw two shots given back and another 37 scored, 74 gross, 71 net.

John Finnegan Jnr was the silver winner on net 72. John plays off one and picked up another one with a birdie three at the first.

He picked up another shot at eight but a few bogies were added in between and he turned at nine with a score of 37. John dropped a shot at the par five tenth and balanced this up with a birdie at the par four fifteenth to add a level par 36 for gross 73, net 71.

Bronze winner was Andrew Baird on 77. Playing off seventeen Andrew saw three shots go west as he took eight at the second hole! A steady recovery took him to 51 shots for the outward half. An even steadier back nine added only 43 and gave him pole position in his section.

Daniel McAleese took the best gross prize with his 73. A birdie four at the second hole with the rest played in par gave Daniel 35 out. A couple of double bogies at twelve and fifteen curtailed him to a 41 on the back nine but a good 73 nevertheless.
