ICE SKATING: Heartache for Jenna

JENNA McCorkell's Winter Olympic's dream ended in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 23-year-old suffered heartache on the opening night of the ladies short programme at the Pacific Coliseum falling after just two of the eight required elements.

McCorkell started strongly with a double axel but misjudged the landing on the triple lutz and double toeloop and nearly careered into the barriers around the rink.

The seven-time British champion needed to finish in the top 24 to progress to Friday's free programme but ended 29th overall after being awarded a score of just 40.64.

McCorkell was inconsolable as she skated off the ice trying to hold back the tears and admitted she won't be getting over her disappointment anytime soon.

"I am just devastated that is the only way to describe how I feel," said McCorkell. "I can't change what happened but I wish I could."
