IIBA official praises 'six of the best'

THE Irish Indoor Bowling Association will pull the curtain down on another successful season with the 49th AGM on Tuesday, April 6 at the Templeton Hotel, Templepatrick.

Again, the IIBA’s Stonebridge National Championships – staged last weekend at Richhill Recreation Centre – provided a fitting climax to the campaign.

IIBA Pro, Harold Massey, paid tribute to the backing received from John McNally, proprietor of the Stonebridge Restaurant, Richhill - now in its sixth year.

“As another season of short mat bowls draws to a close, the association is again indebted to the John for his assistance,” said Harold.

“The importance of sponsorship in sport cannot be over emphasised and the IIBA owe a huge debt of gratitude to John McNally for his very significant financial input over the last six years.

“However, the help received from the McNally family does not stop with John, as his mother, Flo, the Armagh zone convenor, has been instrumental in obtaining the use of Richhill Recreation Centre, where the finals are hosted, plus the provision of tiered seating from Armagh City and District Council.”

Tracey Whiteside, representing Stonebridge Restaurant, last week presented the prizes to the national winners.

Incidentally, all affiliated clubs are entitled to send two voting representatives to the agm, but others may attend if they wish.
