Impressive form continues for Town U16s

TOWN Juniors Under-16 continued their impressive form with a six goal blitz against Newry.

Town started strongly against their near neighbours and went 1-0 up after smart link up play down the right as Finn Campbell laid the ball off to Declan Loy, who precisely lobbed the ball over the Newry City goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty box to make it 1-0.

Newry bounced back immediately from the kick-off as they raced through the Town’s defence and scored an equaliser.

However, Banbridge took the lead again five minutes later as Josh Cargin fizzed in the ball from a corner and Michael Jordan capitalized by swiftly striking the ball into the net from close range after the Newry defence failed to clear their lines.

Newry once again managed to recover from their deficit and equalised just before half-time.

The Town came out in the second half motivated and took the lead again as Ryan Williamson controlled the ball from a Finn Campbell pass and scooped it into the Newry goal.

The locals doubled their advantage as Michael Jordan and Josh Cargin combined cleverly after good play from Stephen McCavitt and Michael Jordan’s cross from the right found Ryan Williamson, who finished from six yards out.

The Juniors’ dominance began to show as David Gray drilled the ball down the left to Josh Cargin who then pulled it back to Ryan Williamson to score his hat-trick.

The scoring didn’t end there as Declan Loy played the ball through to the in from Josh Cargin, who nestled his shot into the bottom corner to wrap up a 6-2 win in added time.

The victory means that Banbridge leapfrog Newry and are now up to third in the table.
