Impressive win for Peacocks Under-10's

BERTIE'S Under-10's travelled to Belfast once again last Saturday where they took on a Willowbank side who had scored eight goals the previous week.

So the Little Ants knew this game would be a much stiffer test than last week's 8-0 victory. The game as expected turned out a real battle with both teams having chances in the early moments, however it was Willowbank who opened the scoring in the 15th minute

As the game continued Bertie's started to spread the play wide which caused the physically stronger Willowbank all sorts of problems with the pace of Brennan and Crawford down the wings. This is how Bertie's got their equaliser when young Brennan beat his marker and finished well in the corner.

Bertie's came out for the second half firing on all cylinders using the wings and passing the ball about with great confidence. The boys went close on a number of occasions, but they just couldn’t beat the impressive Willowbank keeper.

The boys kept at it and with 10 minutes to go Carr fed a great ball over to Brennan and he put in Whiteside who smashed the ball into the net. Bertie's soaked up the Willowbank pressure in the closing stages then on the final whistle they broke up field to grab their third when Boorman finished well after a goal mouth scramble.

It was a great performance from the boys as they showed great character and sprit once again.

The coaches would like to thank all the parents and friends for their support and help with transport.
