Impressive win for Under-15's

COLERAINE Under-15's got their season back on track with a hard fought league victory at home to Rainey.

In excellent weather conditions spectators were served up a free flowing game of competitive rugby. Coleraine started well and scored after five minutes when outhalf Ryan Harper picked the ball up close to the Rainey 22 and swerved his way over the line for fine try. Full back Shea Eastwood converted the score to give Coleraine an early seven point lead.

Midway through the half Coleraine were unlucky to concede an intercept try which levelled the score. Rainey kept the pressure on for a period of time and but for at least four try saving tackles by Shea Eastwood and Alister Irwin the match could easily have slipped away from Coleraine.

Nevertheless this young side then upped the ante towards the end of the half to produce at times some excellent rugby and our talented centre Alister Irwin added two tries before half time, both of which were fine runs through the floundering Rainey defence. This gave Coleraine a 21-7 half time lead.

The second half started as the first half ended and ten minutes into the half captain Ryan Harper scored a superb try. Again the try was converted.

Sitting on a 28-7 lead Coleraine lost their way and let Rainey back into the game. They replied with three tries the last one scored at the final whistle to give a final score of 28-24 for Coleraine.
