In fact with Loughgall's game against Coagh United being called off the Roesiders moved to the top of the table with this victory.

In a game of very few clear cut chances David Patton grabbed the only goal to secure the points at the Riada Stadium.

The 'Toon' had the games first chance in the seventh minute but Robert Richie saw his effort well saved by Michael Doherty.

Only a minute later Richie was again in the action when he upended Shane Jennings. Gareth McConaghie's resultant free-kick was saved.

In the 20th minute Gareth McLaughlin crossed for David Nicholl but his header was easily saved by Doherty.

Ciaran Clarke had an opportunity in the 26th minute but his effort flew narrowly wide of Ryan Martin's goal.

United had another chance in the 32nd minute. However Peter Spratt headed McConaghie's free-kick wide.

Five minutes later McConaghie arrowed another free-kick goal-wards but once again Martin did well to gather his effort.

The games only goal came in the 43rd minute when Patton burst clear of the home defence before rolling the ball past the 'keeper.

United had another good chance in the 56th minute but Paul Owens volleyed wide from Jennings right wing cross.

The home side's best chance of the second half came in the 71st minute but Denver Gage headed wide of Doherty's goal.

Owens had another chance in the 89th minute but once again he volleyed wide of the target from Clarke's cross.

Clarke had the game's last chance in stoppage time at the end of the game but his shot was well saved after a quick breakaway.
