It was Fionnuala McGrady’s Lady Captain’s Day, which was thoroughly enjoyed by over 80 competitors. Even a few showers couldn’t dampen the spirits with plenty of beautiful prizes to play for.

Carol won the best of those with four shots to spare after carding 41 points. That was well clear of runner-up Hilary Ferguson, who came in with 37 points.

Lady Captain Fionnuala was kept busy, meeting and greeting the competitors while the refreshment tent at the ninth hole proved very popular with Joanne at hand to serve up tea, coffee and refreshing bubbly. This was much appreciated by all the golfers.

After the evening drinks reception, Lady Captain introduced her family and friends and explained how they had influenced her in her love of golf and the many friends she had made through the sport.

She thanked all the ladies for their support and also sent special praise to her committee, office staff, bar and catering staff, Justin and all the green staff, John and Matt in the pro shop and also to Anne Walby and her team for the beautiful flower arrangements throughout the club.
