IN PICTURES: Refurbished tennis courts opened at Larne club

The newly re-furbished tennis courts were officially opened at Larne Bowling & Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday.

The new Tiger Turf Surface was laid during April and Mrs Irene McCarlie, Tennis Life Member and Club Trustee officially opened the courts assisted by Tennis Captain Brian McRandal, Bowling President Johnnie Hamill, Lady President Marie Wilson and Club Chairman Derick Jenkins.

Albert Smythe who has been a major driving force within the Tennis Section and LBLTC has to be thanked along with many other volunteers for the many hours of maintenance that was undertaken preparing the courts for the re-furbishment and the on-going upkeep of the new surface since they were laid.

Four of the club’s past and present members served the official first ball on the four courts to declare each open. There were many events running during the afternoon, including a Larne Legends exhibition match.
