This week’s sports section of the Times is packed full of match reports, reaction and action photos from across the borough and beyond.

In our back-page lead, we hear from Cairndhu Golf Club’s John McKinstry who has recently been named captain of the Ulster Boys’ golf team.

We also pay tribute to ex-Larne manager and former St Comgall’s PE teacher, Shea Hamill, who died recently. Several names from the local game - including Linfield boss David Jeffrey and former Northern Ireland international Michael Hughes - have praised Shea’s unquenchable passion for football.

We have the latest Larne Football Club news from our correspondents Paul Campbell and Kevin Hughes, including reaction to the Intermediate Cup defeat to Limavady from winger Scott Irvine and boss Graham McConnell.

Our wide-ranging coverage of the Amateur League continues. Five East Antrim teams were out of action due the weekend weather conditions, but we have reports from Islandmagee’s defeat to Immaculata (pictured above), as well as coverage of Nortel and Kilroot Rec among others.

In rugby we look ahead to Larne Under-19s’ crunch match with Malone on Saturday, while Larne Ladies’ Hockey Club firsts were on the wrong end of a thumping 7-1 scoreline as they took on Belfast Harlequins.

We’ve got darts, snooker and pool covered too, plus there’s a full round-up of how Larne Athletic Club’s 40-strong team of runners fared at the Northern Ireland and Ulster Junior and Masters Cross Country Championships.

And if that wasn’t enough, we feature reports on swimming, bowls and boccia in Ballygally!
