Inbetweeners in commanding position at top of pool league

Inbetweeners have opened up a big lead at the top of the Ballymena Towers Pool League, as they seek to wrestle the title away from the perennial contenders.

At the other end of the table, there was joy for Moat Mad Dogs, who claimed their first league win with a 5-1 success over Diamond Duffers.

Fairhill Dreamers 1, Diamond Dazzlers 5: Dazzlers got off to a great start by winning the first three games without dropping a frame, there winners through Robert Artt, Malcolm Graffin and Brendan O’Mullan. Fairhill pulled one back when Sean Brannigan beat Chris Gordon in straight frames but Dazzlers turned up the heat and won the last two games by 2-0 scorelines, their winners were Adrian Rourke and Ian Boal. Moat Mad Dogs 5, Diamond Duffers 1: Ricky Moore got the home side off to a flyer before William Wilson doubled the score.

Ryan McCarroll pulled a game back for the Diamond but Moat won the next two games with wins for Allen Agnew and Ashley Harmswoth, while they also had a walkover win in the last game. POM - Ricky Moore.

Meatballs 4, Fairhill Hustlers 2: Fairhill took the lead through Adam Gordon but Meatballs levelled through Pat McAnally before going ahead through Dee Erwin. In the next game Richard Campbell won the first frame for the Fairhill but Owen Butler fought back and won the next two frames for a 2-1 win. Ritchie Irwin did manage to pull a game back for Fairhill but Ryan Foster beat Robert Graham in straight frames to victory. POM - Ritchie Irwin.

Michelin Masters 3, Connolly’s A 3: Connolly’s shocked Masters by winning the opening two games through John McAllister and Gary Erwin, before Jimmy Knowles opened Michelin’s account.

Pat McAnally (Snr) secured Connolly’s third win before Michelin recovered to salvage a draw through Alan Armstrong and Brian Hanna. POM - Jimmy Knowles.

Coach Bar 0, Inbetweeners 6: In a one-sided match, Inbetweeners won the first four games without dropping a frame through Brian Hannaway, Gary Ormandy, Lee Wright and Ryan Logan. In the fifth game Darren Gilmore put up a bit of resistance by winning the first frame but to no avail as Philip Houston won the next two frames for a 2-1 win and Gareth Rowe wrapped up the whitewash for Inbetweeners. Towers Tavern 5, Mighty Moat 1: Towers took control of this match early on and David O’Neill started the ball rolling with a win in straight frames against Dean Robinson. Drew Sloan made the match score 2-0 with a win in straight frames against Daniel Magill. Shane made it 3-0 but in the fourth game Alan Rainey pulled a game back for the Moat. KD Crabbe restored the three game cushion for Towers and in the final game James Millar had a walkover as the Moat only had five players.
