INF A take two point lead as league reaches the halfway point

The INF A moved top with a 6-2 win over their B team as the Stables whitewashed the Trojans and the Celtic left lake street with both points as they beat Clann Eireann 6-2 with only five of the eight matches having to be played with both teams players short .

Eire Og 3 Drumgor 5

After five successful wins at the start of the season Eire Og have now failed to win in the last two and in doing so have relinquished their lead at the top of the table.

Eire Og’s Paul Callaghan took out a 90 checkout in the first leg but lost the next two as Paul Beattie bettered him with a 115 checkout when coming from behind to claim the win and put the visitors one nil up.

Mark McLernon had a 19 dart leg as he also won the deciding leg against Marty Craig to level the match but from here on it it was Drumgor who took control. Pearse Richardson and Paul McGahan went right to the wire after they shared the opening two legs and both had chances to win it but it was Pearse who got the winning double to move Drumgor back in front.

Hugh Heaney seems to enjoy playing under pressure and making his teammates sweat his matches out as for the seventh time in a row this season his match went to the deciding leg and despite winning five of the previous six it was his Opponent Eamon Duff who held his nerve this time to claim his first league win of the season to move Drumgor 3-1 ahead.

Shane Lennon got his fifth league win in a row as he beat Micky Dunwoodie 2-1 to make it 4-1 on the night. John Cinnamond had a 20 dart leg as he continued his impressive form beating Stevie Duff 2-0 to keep the hosts in the tie but when Clive Hanna, who last week lost for the first time in a couple of years got back into the win column as he beat Chris Cinnamond in the third and deciding leg to guarantee victory for the reigning champions the match was over.

It was left to Noel Dunwoodie to take the final match as he beat Joe Duff but with this win Drumgor now only sit two points behind Eire Og and in prime position to make a late surge for the title as they slowly build up momentum.

INF B 2 INF A 6

New boys INF B went into the match against their more experienced A team in confident mood having only lost once so far, but it was experience that told in the end as the new out right league leaders took both points to finish on 13 out of 14 possible points at the halfway stage.

After six consecutive wins at the start of the season Keith Beale lost for the first time as Terry Morrow scored steady to win 2-0 in 22 and 23 darts to put the A team one up. Micky McConville made it six wins from seven as he beat A team captain Seamy Tallon 2-0 winning the second leg in 21 darts as both players missed doubles in leg one.

The next six legs played all went the way of the victors as they took control of the match with Lee Culbert hitting a 139 just at the right time to help complete his win over Conor Quinn. Paul White hit five tons as he won his twelfth consecutive leg in the league for his sixth 2-0 win as he beat Paul Magee and two 140’s by Dave McCusker in leg number two seen him take control and finish off Collie Toman to put the INF A team 4-1 up on the night.

Dee McCready got his sixth win from seven as he beat Roy White in the deciding leg for a 2-1 win and keep his team in the match but it was of no avail as Dan Cahoon, who has been superb in his first season, won his seventh match in a row without dropping a leg to guarantee the win for his team.

Mick Millar finished the night off in style when after winning the first leg he followed it up in leg two with an excellent 16 dart leg after initially missing doubles for a 14 darter to help the INF A team move two points ahead at the top of the table at the midway point.

Trojans 0 Stables 8

For the second time this season the Trojans suffered an 8-0 whitewash this time at the hands of the Stables who in doing so moved into the top four.

Conor Mallon started the ball rolling with his third consecutive 2-0 win this time over John McDowell and Hugh Campbell got his second win of the season as he won both legs over Davy Vaughan Sr.

For the third time this season Liz McLoughlin lost in the deciding leg and with all the practice she is putting in surely that win won’t be far away, but this time it was Nathan Lamb who got the better of her to make it 3-0 on the night. Gary Bell got his fifth win in a row as he won both legs against Andrew Fairbairn but when Michael Lamb got back to winning ways after three consecutive losses as he beat Michael Shields the match was over as a contest.

Shane Tallon got his fifth win of the season when winning both legs against Stuart Matchett to make it 6-0 and it took a deciding leg to separate Pat Curran and Paul Leiws but it was the Stables man who took the honours and in doing so made it seven on the night.

It was left to David Vaughan Jr to try and stop the whitewash but there was no letting up as Gareth Bunting won both legs played to leave the final score 8-0 to the visitors.

Clann Eireann 2 Celtic 6

In what turned out to be a disappointing night for both teams as both failed to field the eight player quota and it was the six men of the Celtic who took the honours over the seven men of Clann Eireann and claim only their second win of the season.

After the draw was made there was only five matches to play with three players receiving walkover wins with Dermie McStay and Micky Campbell receiving wins for the hosts and Gerard Crewe getting it for the Celtic it was 2-1 to Clann Eireann before a dart had been thrown.

Micky Cahoon took the opening match as he beat Mark Magee by 2-1 to level the match at two each and it was Cetic who took charge winning the four remaining matches.

Adrian Hutchinson had a 2-0 win over Michael Scullion and John Bishorek Sr took both legs in 20 darts each to complete a 2-0win over Johnny McAtamney.

Neil McCluskey got one over his old team mates as he had a 2-0 win over Gary Hendron and in the final match of the night it was young Caolan Lavery who got his first win in the league when he beat Michael Kitching 2-0 to complete the proceedings and leave the final score 6-2 to the boys in green.
