INF lead the way into the new year

INF A 5 Celtic 3

In a match that could have gone either way it was the league leaders who claimed a 5-3 win over Celtic for the second time this season.

It took every ounce of nerve they had as seven of the eight matches went to the wire. The opening match was the only game to finish in two legs as Roy White beat John Bishorek Jr in a high quality game with both players scoring three ton plus scores but it was Roy who found his doubles to put the INF one up.

Match two was equally as good as Lee Culbert got his sixth league win in a row with a 2-1 win over Chris Lewsley with both players also scoring three ton plus scores with Lee hitting a 140. Match three seen Mick Millar take an early lead scoring heavily with a 134 and five 100’s with Gerard Crewe staying with him hitting three tons but after Mick missed his doubles. In the second leg it was Gerard who took it to level the score. The third leg seen Gerard with the darts but when Mick hit an excellent 116 to leave himself tops it looked like it was soon to be 3-0 but Gerard took out 143 to claim the win and bring Celtic back into the match.

The standard of darts just kept getting better and in match four after Paul White missed a dart at double top In leg one John took the opening leg . Paul fought back though and took leg two and was continuously scoring heavily with a 123 and five tons in total during the three legs but it was John who turned on the style hitting a 180 and a 140 to help him take the decider in 14 darts and give Paul his first defeat of the season ad to bring the Celtic level.

Celtic then went in front as Neil McCluskey hit a 134 and two tons as he took the third and deciding leg over Marty Murray who had a 119 but with the Celtic now in front it looked like the INF were going to drop points for only the second match of the season.

Game six was another top class game as Dave McCusker took the first leg in 18 darts hitting a couple of tons along the way. Young Caolan Lavery showed no fear as he returned the favour in leg two as he had a 140 and a lovely 102 checkout to take it in 18 darts and take it to the deciding leg. But it was Dave who showed his experience to level the match at 3-3.

The INF went back in front as captain Seamy Tallon also held his nerve as he had a 140,121 and two tons over the three legs to beat Leonard Fox who replied with three tons.

The final game seen Dan Cahoon go into it with a perfect record so far with seven consecutive 2-0 wins but up against Adrian Hutchinson it was never going to be easy, but it was win number eight he got as he took the deciding leg to give the INF A team victory.

Eire Og 7 Trojans 1

Eire Og recorded their first win in three and in doing so remain in second spot two points adrift.

With the first match of the season being a whitewash between the sides the Trojans were hoping to repeat the 4-a-side result were they pushed them all the way only to narrowly lose out, but this time again the hosts had too much firepower.

Paul McGahan got the winners off and running with a hard fought 2-1 win over Andy Fairbairn who scored well hitting three tons and two scores of 99 but Paul was the one who hit the winning doubles. Mark McLernon had a 2-0 win over Stuart Matchett to double the Og’s lead with Stuart hitting some nice scores of 117 and a ton but unfortunately to no avail.

Chris Cinamond made it 3-0 when he had a good 18 dart leg as he won both legs against David Vaughan Sr but the Trojans were able to stop any thoughts of another potential whitewash as Roger Hare had three tons as he won both legs against Paul Callaghan to make it 3-1. But unfortunately for the Trojans that was to be the last leg they won as the Og’s rattled of six straight legs to complete a 7-1 win. Niall Heaney took match number five with his fourth 2-0 win from five played this season but the highlight of the night was in game six were John Cinnamond recorded his eighth straight win of the season.

The biggest cheer of the night was reserved for Liz McLoughlin who hit her first competitive 180 showing her practicing is paying off. Hugh Heaney got his sixth win of the season with a 2-0 win over Dave Vaughan Jr to complete the nights action and a walkover win for Micky Dunwoodie made the final score 7-1 and leave Eire Og sitting in second spot.

Drumgor 6 INF B 2

Drumgor remained in contention for league honours when they made no mistake this time around with a comfortable 6-2 win over the INF B having previously drawn with them in league week two.

Pearse Richardson kept his recent good form going with a 2-1 over Micky McConville who lost for only the second time this season as Drumgor took an early lead.

Conor Magee levelled the match with a 2-0 win over Paul Beattie but from here on Drumgor took control of the match winning the next five games. Joe Duff beat Bobby Magee in both legs and Shane Lennon did likewise as he got his sixth consecutive league win in a row in beating Colie Toman to make it 3-1.

After a slow start to the season Eamon Duff seems to be finding his form as he had a 2-0 win over Conor Quinn and when Clive Hanna took both legs played against J Hatchell the tie was over with still two matches to go.

Match seven was a great game, after taking the first leg Stevie Duff narrowly missed double 10 for a 140 checkout but in doing so he let Brian Turley in to check out a 118 and take it to a deciding leg. But with Stevie finding the treble regularly an 18 dart leg was enough for him to claim the victory and make it 6-1 on the night.

INF B team captain seems to have grown into his role as leader and his results have proved this as he took his seventh win of the season with a 2-1 win over Marty Craig to pull one back for the visitors but it was too little too late as after an excellent start to the season the Forresters men have now dropped into the bottom half of the table.

Stables 7-1 Clann Eireann

Stables cemented their standing in the top half with a comfortable 7-1 win over Clann Eireann.

Hugh Campbell got the ball rolling with a 2-0 win over Michael Scullion. Michael Lamb made it two with a 2-1 win over Dermie McStay and from here on in it was all the Stables as they reeled off five consecutive games on the trot.

Shane Tallon made it 3-0 with a win over Mark Magee and Conor Mallon did likewise as he got his fourth win in a row as he beat Gary Hendron 2-1. Pat Curran had another 2-0 win with victory over Johnny McAtamney and when Nathan McCabe won both legs against Michael Kitching the whitewash was on. Micky Campbell stopped the rot as he handed Gary Bell only his second defeat of the season winning the third and deciding leg. The final match went the same as the earlier games as Nathan Lamb won his fourth match from five as he beat Joe McCabe in both legs to leave the final score on the night 7-1 to the Stables.
