International first for our Jenna

Jenna McCorkell is celebrating after winning her first Senior ISU International competition at Ondrej Nepela Memorial in Bratislava at the weekend.

It was the Coleraine ice skater’s first competition on the international circuit in 2012 and she won by just under a massive 10 points margin.

Speaking after the event the nine-time British champion said: “I’m so happy to have secured my first ever international win.

“It is a great way for me to start off the season.

“All the hard work has definitely paid off. I’ll take a couple of days rest and then I’ll be stright back into it again, here’s hoping for more of the same as the season goes on.”

Jenna is currently training in Dundee with UK Director of coaching Simon Briggs and and his wife Debi Briggs.

Jenna’s short program was choreographed by Mark Hanretty known for his appearances on dancing on ice (In 2011 and 2012, Hanretty appeared on ITV’s Dancing on Ice.

He was partnered with Nadia Sawalha in series 6 in 2011. They were voted out early along with Angela Rippon and Sean Rice. In series 7 in 2012, Hanretty was partnered with Rosemary Conley. They were the sixthth couple eliminated).

Jenna’s Long program was choreographed by Former World Professional Champion Lorna Brown, who now teaches in Los Angeles. Lorna was a former member of John Curry’s ‘Theatre of Skating’.
