International flavour at Ballyvally Archery
On a visit from Spain to improve their English they decided to also improve their archery!
Being the summer, Ballyvally archers are shooting at their outdoor venue in the woods, so a little competition was organised for the group with the prize for the top score being one of Ballyvally’s unique club badges.

Hide AdThe competition was very close and the group are coming back this week for a return match.
Club members are reminded that the club will be involved in the Castlewellan Show on Saturday 16th July.
As the show attracts between 10,000-20,000 people as many club members as possible are encouraged to turn up to help, as the archery each year is a big attraction.
On Sunday, weather permitting, the club will host its first Clout competition which will involve some archers shooting 180 yards at the clout flag...that is the length of two football pitches.

Hide AdThe Clout comes directly from the days of Agincourt etc when bows were designed to shoot distances against a mass of soldiers advancing.
Ballyvally’s Summer Scheme is now in full swing and the weather seems to be improving. Anyone interested in having a go at this ancient sport, please contact club coach Frank Mulligan on 028 406 23748 for details.
