International tournament at Ballymena Bowling Club this weekend

Ballymena Bowling Club will once again play host to international action this weekend.

The Old Ballymoney Road complex is the venue for the Ladies’ Under 25 International Series contested between Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.

Ballymena’s sole representative on the Irish team is Megan Wilson, who presently holds the Irish Under 25 Pairs title along with Chloe Watson (Pickie).

But with Watson taking part in the singles competition, Megan will instead link up with Ballymoney’s Rachel Macdonald in the pairs.

Play starts on Friday 18th July 2014 at 2.30pm (trial ends at 2.15pm) when there will be 2 matches, Wales1 v England2 and England1 v Wales2. Both of the Scottish teams and the Ireland team rest.

On Saturday the Opening Ceremony takes place at 9.30am and play commences at 10.00am (trial ends at 9.45am).

There are a further round of matches at 2pm and 4.30pm, while the series reaches its conclusion on Sunday morning when matches commence at 9.30am.

Meanwhile, three of the club’s promising young male players will also be in representative action this weekend.

This year’s Under 25 Inter Association Championships will take place at Belmont on Friday and Saturday. Alistair Coleman, Steven Shields and Michael Wilson have been selected to play for the Northern Ireland Private Greens League.
