And, the left arm off spinner is no stranger to selection, having played in the North West Interpro’s at under 13 and under 15 level.

Scott told Times Sport: “I am really delighted to be selected, it’ll be a big step up for me playing with boys two and three years older, but I’m really looking forward to it.”

And the modest teenager has been training every day with Coleraine professsional Mohammad Salman: “Sal has been really helpful with training and helping me with my techniques.”

“Scott’s selection gives great credit to the youth coaching structures developed over the past 10 years. Scott has a tremendous work ethic and is always looking to improve his game.

“He has been given invaluable advice from club professional Mohammad Salman and great support from his parents Paul and Diane. We all wish Scott well for his forthcoming international summer.”

Cricket Ireland Operations Director, Mark Garaway, has taken on the mantle of coaching the side in this vital qualifier.

"We have a number of really talented cricketers, particularly in the bowling department who I am keen to work with on the mindsets and tactics employed by bowlers that I have worked with in the past such as Stuart Broad, Andrew Flintoff, Jimmy Anderson and Graeme Swann.
