Irene to be remembered at Killymurris tournament

ONE of the best-loved figures in local bowling circles will be fondly remembered as the annual Killymurris singles tournament begins tonight (Tuesday).

Irene Adams, a stalwart of the Glarryford club for many years, passed away last month, was for many years the person who kept the tournament running smoothly.

Now club officials have decided that proceeds from the tournament will go to the Macmillan Unit at Antrim Area Hospital, where Irene underwent treatment.

“Irene fulfilled so many roles around the church and within the bowling club and it was felt that donating the proceeds to this particular charity would be a fitting way of remembering her input,” said a tournament spokesperson.

Qualifying nights for the tournament run from October 16-18 and October 22-24 inclusive, with the finals night taking place on Friday, October 26.
