Islandderry still fishing well

Islandderry still fishing well

despite ice

THE recent ice is not affecting the fishing on the Hollow Springs lake at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore.

Buzzers are working well with the favourite colours being black and green which also seem to be the favourite colours for lures as well with montanas, vivas and black dancers catching well.

Paul Brown, Dromore, was fishing a floating line and a black buzzer on Saturday to return over 20 trout. Paul Travers and Alan Graham from Newcastle had a good day on the Hollow Springs lake on Tuesday, catching over 30 trout between them with green buzzers and orange blobs working for them. John Dickson, Maraghalin was fishing a black buzzer on a floating line to return nine trout.

On Friday Winston Sinnamon, Blackskull, released 25 trout on a black dancer, again on a floating line due to alot of fish showing on the surface. The main lake is fishing well to orange blobs and black buzzers with John Scott, Dromara, returning eight trout from the boat with his best tipping the scales at 7lb1.

The main lake was froze at the weekend but by Sunday the staff had managed to get half of it clear of ice, so it should be open again this week as temperatures are to rise.

The next competition is on the main lake on Saturday and is the fourth round of the winter league starting at 10am. For more information or to book contact the fishery on 07859 074424.

The fishery is now on Facebook, which is kept upto date with how it's fishing, competitions and if the lakes are froze or not.
