It can be a better year for all bowlers

LOCAL teams playing in the NIBA will mostly be hoping for a better year than last year as they prepare for the new competitive season, which starts on Saturday, April 27.

Lisnagarvey had one of their worst ever seasons at both senior and junior level, so hopefully they have got their house in order before the start and both teams bring back the winning habit.

Dromore may be one of those teams who enjoyed a good year last term, winning Division Two, but the last time, that happened three years ago they went straight back down.

They will have a task to avoid this happening and the B team will hope to hold on to their Division Five status for another year.

Finaghy also had a poor campaign last time, but are still in Division Four. Can they survive again on the green and can the B team survive off the green? These are the big questions at Finaghy.

Lagan Valley have proved to be almost unbeatable at home in Division Five, but they will be hoping this season to increase their success rate in away games. This would lift them towards the top of the table.

All the best to the locals and hope they have a successful and enjoyable season with loads of sunshine.

- THE Annual Meeting of the Lisburn Indoor Bowling League will be held in St Paul’s Parish Hall on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m.

Clubs should send a representative along to this important meeting.
