It's a game of two halves for U14s

Banbridge Town U14s 4

Greenisland 5

THIS was definitely a game of two halves with Banbridge losing the first half.

Greenisland scored straight from the kick off in less than 10 seconds when they caught Banbridge sleeping.

Five minutes later they made it two, taking advantage of slack defending and again after 10 minutes to make it three.

Banbridge nearly pulled one back when Robert Colfer headed a free kick just wide of the post.

After 20 minutes Greenisland almost increased their lead to four but for an excellent save from Kalem Farrell.

A few minutes later Farrell saved again but the ball bounced to Greenisland who scored to go 4-0 up.

Gareth Orr then scored for Banbridge with a superb half volley from the edge of the 18 yard box which went into the roof of the net. Declan Loy nearly got another but the keeper saved well.

Banbridge seemed to be getting back into the game when Greenisland scored a fifth just before half time.

Banbridge came out in the second half and immediately took the game to Greenisland. Stephen McCavitt and Robert Colfer both went close before McCavitt scored after a long kick from Kalem Farrell put the keeper under pressure and McCavitt took the ball round the keeper and scored.

In the 50th minute Robert Colfer finished off a great run with a low shot past the keeper to make it 5-3.

Banbridge continued to dominate the game and with a few minutes to go Stephen McCavitt was brought down for a penalty which he confidently put away to make it 5-4.

Unfortunately the final whistle came too soon for Banbridge to get an equaliser but they can be pleased at least with their second half performance.
