It’s good to be back home for Ladies Fourths

Bann were slow to start and within the first five minutes found themselves 1-0 down. From the restart Julie Pollock was able to cause problems for the strong Malone side, finding Andrea Harrower in the circle unmarked whose shot went wide of the post.

The Bann girls came under attack and the defence of Dawn Ferguson, Naomi Matthews and Rachel Groves found themselves defending a Malone short corner.

The shot was taken and deflected into the net by the Banbridge sweeper.

This seemed to make the Bann side more determined and within minutes Cathrine Reid had won a free outside the circle. Kellie Acheson took this free quickly and found Lynda McKinley in the back post who slotted the ball past the keeper.

At the start of the second half the Bann team fought hard with Jayne Walker, Angela Cowan and Laura Stevenson making numerous attacking plays up front and by the 45th minute had won a short corner. Julie Pollock made no mistake this time when she crashed the backboard with her shot.

The game continued to flow with end to end play, both teams having chances but the score line remained the same.
