It's registration time at Liatroim

LIATROIM Fontenoys club notes for the week commencing January 18:

Juvenile registration and club membership will take place on Wednesday January 27 from 7.30pm and Sunday January 31 from 10–11am.

Club membership for 2010 can also be paid to club registrar, Roger Clarke or any committee member. Full family membership (two adults and two children) 50; single family membership (one adult and children) 40; adult membership 40; juvenile membership 20; OAP membership 10. All those who have paid before January 31 will qualify for the draw for All-Ireland tickets.

l The managers of the U10/U12 hurling teams would like to thank Charlie Keown for his donation of hurling sticks and sliotars for the incoming year. These items are greatly appreciated.

l If anyone is interested in attending any of the following coaching courses, please give your name to Ryan Doyle: Ulster CPD – Saturday January 30 at the Ulster Coaching Conference in the Glenavon Hotel, Cookstown, specialising in 13–18 year olds, skills and games in camogie, hurling and football. The cost is 25 per person and places are limited.

Ulster CPD – Tuesday February 23: Conditioning in games for hurling, youth-adults. Tutor: Mickey McCullough.

l Anyone within the club that is interested in doing a referee's course is asked to contact Ryan Doyle 07799474078 for further information.

l Set dancing class starts on Thursday January 21 at 8pm. Everyone is welcome, both young and old. Come along and enjoy the fun and work off those extra pounds gained at Christmas.

l Irish dancing - no class on Thursday January 21.

l Belated congratulations to Brian McAleenan on being selected on the Lory Meagher All-Star team for 2009. This is the second year in a row that a member of the club has been selected on such a team after John Brown was selected last year for the Nicky Rackard team.

l We wish Charlie Keown a speedy recovery after his recent accident.

Upcoming events in the Function Room: Friday January 22 – referee’s dinner; Sunday January 31 – Scor Sinsear; Friday February 5 – East Down dinner; Friday February 12 – club dinner dance. Tickets available shortly, priced 17 per person.

l Lotto - Thursday January 14: 5, 11, 22, 24. There was no jackpot winner but there were two match three winners: Phil Kelly and Seamus Owens (Castlewellan). The seller’s draw was won by Patrick McCartan. Next week’s jackpot is 2,450 with the draw made in Mac’s Bar on Thursday January 21.
