It’s tight at the top as three front-runners lose

The pressure is on the front-runners in the Larne and District Snooker League as the top three all suffered 3-2 defeats this week.

Greenbank ‘A’ remain top despite losing to Linfield. Pete McCaffrey and Davy Douglas won for the Carrick men, with Gary Rutherford (22), William Stewart and Billy Parke giving the Blues the edge.

Latharna are a point behind in second after losing to The Point. Gavin Carmichael and Raymond Weir were Latharna’s only winners as Graham Ferguson, Eddie Carson and Gary McNeill made sure of the victory for the hosts.

St Comgall’s missed out on a chance togo top spot against Ballyclare Golf Club ‘A’. Dean McDonagh and Joe Gribben (32) secured two points for the Saints, but J. McKay, Trevor Mairs and Darren Agnew (23) won for the golfers.

Carrick ‘A’ move up to sixth after a 5-0 away win at bottom team, Larne Legion.

St John’s secured their 12th win of the season with a 3-2 success away to Ballyclare ‘B’. Alex Robertson (20, 34), Andy Reid and A. McKee all won, with Ian Wallace and Jim Crockard pocketing frames for the hosts.

Ballyclare Old Boys eased to a 5-0 away win at Ballylumford. Declan McLean, Joe Lennon, Tommy Hart, Noel Vennard and Stevie Crymble were all on target.

Elsewhere, Carrick ‘B’ defeated Greenbank ‘B’ 3-2.
