Jackson Taggart Memorial Trophy at Royal

ROYAL Portrush Golf Club staged the Jackson Taggart Memorial Trophy on Saturday over the Dunluce links.

Jeff Wilson and Alan Millar combined to take the top spot in this four ball better ball competition with their score of 43 points. They dropped a couple of shots at four and seven, both par fours, before adding a good birdie at the ninth for 21 points. A steady back nine followed with consecutive birdies at sixteen and seventeen and a double bogey six at eighteen. This all combined to give 22 back and a total of 43.

Countback was needed to move Wallace McMaster and Dr Peter Dick into runners-up spot. This pair carded a terrific 25 points out, no dropped shots and a birdie two at the sixth, but the back nine proved tougher and, with a two shots dropped at twelve, the back nine of 18 points was their downfall.
