Japanese Cultural Centre opens in Coleraine

THE world's oldest martial art is now being taught in Coleraine.

Local man Jeffrey Balmer will lead the teaching of Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu Bujutsu and Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate and Kobujutsu at their new premises at Unit 3 Loughanhill Business Park.

Training will be held every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 8pm and anyone interested whould either tepephone 07730 143 765 or email [email protected].

The Japanese Cultural Centre are the only group in Ireland authorised by the Otake family to teach the ancient art of Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu Bujutsu.

Last May Otake Sensei made his first ever visit to Europe when he visited the University of Ulster, Coleraine showing the esteem in which he holds Jeffrey. In July this year he will visit Sweden, where Jeffrey will act as his assistant.
