No, that doesn’t mean he was strolling the fairways with his fellow Banbridge members - instead he was off to Scotland to compete in the prestigious Senior British Open.

The highlight of the European Senior Tour calendar, the event saw the likes of Mark O’Meara, Tom Watson and even Miguel Angel Jimenez compete for the top prize.

And after day one, Jim was high up on the leaderboard, carding a level par 72 round Carnoustie.

That had him just four shots off overnight leader Woody Austin.

However, a disappointing second round 78, which included a shot out of bounds on the 17th, led to Jim missing the cut by a single shot.

Paul Broadhurst went on to win the tournament with a total of -11, netting a tidy € 251,485 prize.

Maybe Jim will have picked up some warm-up tips of Jimenez.

Keep an eye on him before he tees off in his next round at Banbridge just to see.
