John secures win number four during this week's sweeps

SUNDAY AUGUST 1 - This was the fourth time this year that John Doran has won the Sunday Sweep.

The only other player to equal that achievement is Alex Clarke. There is no prize for it but it would be nice, at the end of the year, to say that you won the Sunday Sweep more times than anyone else.

Robert McClatchey and Michael Robinson shared the twos pot.

1st, John Doran (13) Nett 30.5; 2nd, Hugo Downey (7) Nett 31.5; 3rd, Colm McGreevey (21) Nett 31.5.

MONDAY AUGUST 2 - This was Albert Morrison’s fourth win in the sweeps this year.

In the race for the title of king of the sweeps, Albert is currently in second place, two behind Jim Ledlie.

Albert’s happiness was doubled when he split the twos pot with Shane Rooney.

1st, Albert Morrison (19) 35 points; 2nd, Brian Mulholland (10) 33; 3rd, Alan Dale (11) 33.

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 4 - The Pro Shop sponsored this popular juvenile sweep.

Speaking of the Pro Shop, you may have noticed a new face in the shop in recent days. That is Peter McClelland, a qualified PGA professional. He is Jason Greenaway’s new assistant and we would like to wish him every success and happiness at Banbridge Golf Club.

WHITE BLOCKS: 1st, Chris McAvoy 40; 2nd, Ciaran Davis 38.

YELLOW BLOCKS: 1st, Craig Kennedy 44; 2nd, Joshua Crory 43.

THURSDAY AUGUST 5 - Neil Clydesdale shot a three under par gross 66 to win the Thursday Open.

It was a truly brilliant round but methinks it cuts him off the Carlingford Cup team. That’s a bitter blow for the team captain, Colin Wilton.

It was good to see Connor Doran in such good form as he prepares for the Home Internationals in Wales this week. We all hope that Connor, along with Rory Leonard, have a very successful week.

1st, Neil Clydesdale (5) 45; 2nd, Callum McAleenan (13) 42; 3rd, Dr. Jim Mallon (10) 42; 4th, Chris McAvoy (11) 41. Best gross: Connor Doran 68.
