Johnny crowned Wheelers Hill Climb champion

JOHNNY Kernaghan is the West Down Wheelers 2010 Hill Climb champion.

He was in super form in the tough Tonagmore climb, being the fastest Wheeler ever to do it and so earning him the right to lift the Ernie Hall trophy.

Conditions on the night were very cold, wet and windy, and only 10 riders were brave enough to do it.

Special praise must go to a wee man with a big heart - Sam Cantly. Sam is only 11 years of age but put many to shame when he took on this tough climb on a night when many Wheelers gave it a miss , so a big well done to him.

Second place went to the 2010 club champion Paul Wilkinson. He has very rarely been beaten this year, showing once again what a fine TT rider he is.

Other respectable times were recorded by Eddy Cantly, who was just one second behind Paul. Eddy has improved throughout the year in this, his first season on a bike.

Noel Doyle and both Scott and Joshua Daly recorded very good times and can feel pleased with their efforts but the fastest on the night and the fastest man ever to go up this climb was Banbridge Cycling Club member Matt Adair.

Matt has won all the climbs he has entered this year and his time will take some beating - if it ever is.
