Jonathan is Lakeland Warrior

LARNE man Jonathan Turner recently competed with distinction in one of sport’s toughest challenges.

Co Antrim Harrier Jonathan finished tenth in the 63-mile Lakeland Warrior ultra-marathon in Fermanagh.

Starting in drizzly rain, the going through forest trails and countryside got tougher as the field negotiated the first of eight hills on the route.

Running with two other competitors, Jonathan reached the midway point in six hours, 20 minutes. After some food and water they embarked on the return journey, but by 44 miles Jonathan’s running mates were feeling the strain.

For 19 miles he carried on solo and completed the second half in seven hours, 30 minutes - a total for the whole, gruelling race of 13:50.
