Jordan defends Irish Boys’ title this weekend

JORDAN Hood will attempt to recreate the greatest moment of his fledgling golfing career so far this week.

The Galgorm Castle teenager will defend the Irish Boys’ Close Championship he won last year when the competition runs between Wednesday and Friday of this week at The Hermitage club in Dublin.

Jordan, who is now 17, was a rank outsider going into last year’s competition at Ardenlee, County Louth, but produced a stunning display, including a round of 68 in the penultimate round, to win a tournament in which he had trailed the leader by seven shots at the halfway point.

His efforts saw him win the Sporting Performance of the Year award at the Ballymena Sports Awards in January.

“The past couple of years have been beyond my wildest dreams - something I could never have imagined, ” said Jordan at that time.
