Jordan McCaw wins the Ballymoney Autumn Duathlon

Ballymoney CC Biesty’s Centra racer Jordan McCaw added the Autumn Duathlon to his fast growing list of achievements.

Jordan who is part of the super fast and successful BCC Race team and a very successful motocross rider with Irish and Ulster victories to his name.

The 18 year old who has combined the art of road racing with some swimming, cycling and running. Recenty he competed in the BCC Tri Team’s triathlon and then on Sunday he took part in the Autumn Duathlon,

In top place contention after the first leg run and going into the cycling leg closely followed by top Irish junior cyclists Mark Heaney and Conor McCann, both of these lads finished 2nd and 3rd.

After the tough final run leg with a head wind finish it was the Ballymoney man who showed that he had the class to win from the other 55 competitors.

Team mates, Chris Surgeoner who won the “Team Prize”, Marshall Craig, Stuart Nevin, Aaron Dickie, and Marty Burke were also on the result sheet. A special mention to former top female cyclist Nadine McCandless, just getting back to fitness againand young man Ryan Wallace, both of them showed that they have the ability to comete at this level of events.

Sonia Knox from Causeway CC won the woman’s prize and Robbie Lawrence was the first “Unplaced” junior.

A big thank you to the BCC Tri team organisers, Johnny Graham, David McAvoy, Rhona Laverty, Eddie and Mary McKinney,

Philip Magill, Ricky McMaster and the time keeper Chris Surgeoner. This has proved to be a very succesful event and there will be another one organised for the new year.

This Monday night 3rd November was the BCC AGM, and on Wednesday night from 7.15pm the “Youth Centre of Excellence” monthly seminar will take place at Biesty’s. This is part of a 6 series of coaching, tips and trick, bike repairs and introducion to the exclusive BCC Youth Mentoring programme!

All of the youth riders are invited to attend and please return the “Progress Questionaires” on the night!
