Josh and Callum give Fred Daly team a good chance in second leg

The Banbridge Fred Daly team, captained by Josh Lockhart and managed by Kieran Magennis, went off to Castlerock last Friday for the first leg of their first round match and picked up two wins out of seven, a credible away result.

There are no easy matches in the Fred Daly but this was a particularly tough one. Castlerock is a magnificent links course, a severe test for the young lads from Banbridge but their result will give them a fighting chance in the second leg.

Josh Crory (8) was the star player for Bann. He was only 4four over par for 14 holes as he beat Luke Thompson (7) by six and four. To play golf of this standard so early in the season is truly remarkable.

Callum Barnes (9) was also in great form and he beat Andrew Glass (10) by two and one.

These two wins for Banbridge will ensure that the second leg at home is going to be very competitive. It will be played this coming Sunday.

James Thompson (10) made his debut for the Fred Daly team and he was very impressive. He lost by three and two to Jack King (13).

Josh Lockhart, Jonathan Brush, Patrick Magennis and Michael Young also lost their games but they will all feel confident that they can win at home.

The second leg on Sunday will be worth watching.
