Ju Jitsu Club set for move to new premises

BALLYMENA Ju Jitsu Club members are looking forward to moving to new premises.

For over five years, the club has been actively looking for a more suitable venue for their classes. As the club has grown, so has the need for more training time and equipment, however the times available in the Leisure Centre is limited.

Within the next few months Ballymena Ju Jitsu Club will be moving to a new Dojo (training hall) at Woodside Road.

It is an 8000 sq ft building with everything needed to be a centre of excellence for the club. Black belt gradings will be held there on behalf of the Governing Body and as it will be their own dedicated premises, they will have more opportunities to run courses and events to enhance the skills of the students and coaches alike.

The top floor is being let out to a personal trainer/strength and conditioning coach who will not only provide support in specialist strength training to the students but also run classes for parents and students who wish to take their training to the next level.

The Dojo itself will be a Community Interest Company meaning that all profits made at the Centre go back into its development and the development of the coaching and support staff. This in turn will benefit all those training at the Centre, so you can be assured that the aim of The Dojo is, and always will be, to promote the development of those who train in it.

The founder of World Ju Jitsu, Soke Robert Clark, who was the instructor of David Toney (Senior coach in the Dojo) never got the opportunity to see the centre for himself as he passed away several weeks ago, however it will be dedicated to him.

The opening event of the Dojo will take place this weekend when Sensei Matthew Rinaldi & Master Brian Truby, who have taught all over the world, are set to take a specialised Black belt course on Friday 25th May and two courses for adults and children (all grades) on Sunday 27th.
