Judo Academy first club to receive Junior Clubmark award

THE Judo Academy has become the first junior sports club to be accredited with the Lisburn and Castlereagh Council new ‘Junior Clubmark’ Award.

‘Clubmark’ is awarded when the sports club is able to demonstrate that it conforms to the SportNI and local council criteria regarding:

• Effective Management,

• Safety in Sport,

• Quality Coaching and Competition.

The ‘Clubmark’ logo will become a prerequisite for all sports clubs; and will be used as a benchmark for prospective parents looking for safe and quality sports clubs for their children.

This is a significant step in the club’s development plan, and recognises The Judo Academy as a front runner in sports club development in the Lisburn area.

Councillor Thomas Beckett (Chairman of Lisburn City Council Leisure Services Department) and Kevin Madden (Lisburn City Council’s Sports Development Officer) presented the ‘Junior Clubmark’ award to Stephen and Anne Marie McCluskey from The Judo Academy.

In recognition of this achievement, Lisburn Council would like to use The Judo Academy as a model of best practice to others, and encourage them to follow the same path.
Well done to the whole Judo Academy team of coaches, instructors, parents, supporters, and not least to the players that have helped The Judo Academy to become the first sports club to achieve the Lisburn Council ‘Junior Clubmark’ accreditation.
