Julian’s hard work pays off for Uganda charity

Lisburn man Julian Netherton, pictured with proud sons Jack and Sam, after completing the Belfast Marathon, raising £700 for the work of Abaana in Uganda.

He ran to raise funds for local charity Abaana, which works with children living in poverty in Africa.

In what was his first marathon, Julian completed the race in a very impressive 4:11:42 and raised an even better £700 towards the work in Uganda.

“I am so grateful for all the support from my family and friends and to all those who contributed so generously to the overall total sponsorship raised,” said Julian, after he caught his breath.

A spokesperson for Abaana said: “We are so grateful to Julian for all his time, effort and commitment in completing the marathon and raising such an amazing total to help boys and girls living in poverty in Uganda.

“The money raised will help make a genuine and substantial difference to their daily lives.”
