Junior Sports Awards reminder

BABNRIDGE District Council and Banbridge District Sports Association wish to remind local sports clubs and sportspeople that the closing date for submitting nomination forms to the Banbridge District Junior Sports Awards is 5pm on Friday 22 June 2012.

Nominations are sought across the five categories of Female Youth, Male Youth, Junior Team (under 12), Youth Team (12 and over) and Special Olympic Athletes.

If you know of any individual or group of individuals aged 17 and under that has excelled in their chosen sport, you can nominate them in one of these categories.

Nominations forms are available from local outlets including the Civic Building, Banbridge Leisure Centre, Dromore Community Centre, Gilford Community Centre, Rathfriland Community Centre and Donaghy’s Shoefair Sports. Alternatively, it can be downloaded at www.banbridge.gov.uk.

The closing date for receiving applications for the John Ingram Sports Bursary is also 5pm on Friday 22 June 2012. A £500 bursary will be awarded to two young people aged 14 to 17 from the district, helping them to give their fledgling sports career a financial boost. Application forms can be requested from the Council’s Leisure and Development Department on 4066 0605.

Nomination and application forms for both the Junior Sports Awards and the John Ingram Sports Bursary must be returned to the Leisure and Development Department at Banbridge District Council.
