Juniors battle it out for Young Trophy

Stock carsA FULL programme of races took place at Aghadowey Stock Car Stadium on Saturday 9 October.

Highlight of the day was the Juniors battling it out for the Young Trophy. This perpetual trophy was kindly presented to Aghadowey Stock Car Stadium by Lightning Rod Driver Paul Hosie and his family.

Junior Stocks - Glen White from Coleraine led the final from the start and picked up the Young Trophey.

1600 Bangers – There was a good turnout of drivers for the races with Steven McAleese coming through to win the first heat and newcomer James Goldie from Ballymena winning Heat 2. The experienced Lee McCloy from Ballymoney made his way up through the racers to take the chequered flag in the final.

2L Sierras - Newcomer to the class David Faloon won the first two heats but Adam White picked up the trophy in the Final.

1600 Lightning Rods – Another good field of cars with four new drivers taking out licences. Coleraine man Amos McCloy fought his way through to take the first heat and the Final with Paul Hosie from Magheraflet taking the second heat.

Our next meeting is on Friday 15 October. This is our last meeting of the 2010 season and will produce the new 2010 Irish Points Champions.

The 1600 Lightning Rods, 1600 Bangers, Hot Rods and 2l Sierras will be battling it out for the points. There will be no Junior Stocks racing.

The meeting will also feature a Drift Display so if you enjoy tyre smoke and seeing the thrills of Drifting this will be the night for you. Racing starts as the usual time of 7.15pm.

A presentation night is being held on Friday 12 November at The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine. There will be a Disco Trophy Presentations and a Buffet Supper. Tickets are 15 and can be bought from Race Control or any of the Promoters.
