Juniors out to make an impression

The Armagh side have had a positive build-up to to the tournament and have the potential of doing well.

Last year was a real success story for the Junior side as they produced some excellent performances during the competition.

Their opening match on Saturday, July 21, is against Russian outfit CSKA Moscow at Shamrock and will play a key role in determining the fortunes of the rest of the week.

“You never know what you are going to come up against with Russian teams,” said McKee.

“And, as in any year at the Milk Cup, it’s always important to get off to the best possible start.

“A win in the opening game gives everyone a huge boost and I believe we have the potential to do just that.

“Preparations for this year’s tournament have been very good but of course we have had our ups and downs.

“But that was a huge learning curve for the players and they have responded well.”

Armagh’s second match is against Watford at Anderson Park in Coleraine and McKee says he knows what to expect from the English side.

“Over the years we have faced plenty of teams from England at the Milk Cup, so at least we know what lies ahead of us in that game.”

Armagh’s third game is on Wednesday against Tyrone at Broughshane.

“Tyrone and ourselves will be well matched,” added McKee.

“We know plenty about each other and the players all know each other as well. So it’s going to be a tight one for both teams.

“The players have worked on their fitness, especially during our residential weekend in Carlingford so they are really going into the Milk Cup in the best possible condition.”
