JuniorTriathlon thisweekend

AFTER the triumph of last year’s Roe Valley Junior Triathlon, the Triangle Triathlon Club is pleased to announce its return this Saturday, at the Roe Valley Leisure Centre.

This year the event is even bigger and better than last year and Triangle Triathlon Club are keen to continue support the reach of Triathlon, and get more youngsters to take part in this fun sport.

Mervyn Kelly, Race Director, comments, “The UK Olympics in 2012 and the recent IAAF World championships in Moscow has created a buzz around sport and we would like to further this by making it easy for children to get more involved in sporting activities.”

The Roe Valley Junior Triathlon allows children aged 8-15 years to take part in all aspects of Triathlon (swimming, biking and running) in a completive but friendly format. Each child that enters will be given their own race number, just like in an official adult race.

The first leg of the event, the swim, will take place in the Roe Valley Leisure Centre, with the bike course and running taking place on the Nearby St Mary’s Pitch.

The club is keen to point out that children not wanting to take part in a triathlon can enter an Aquathon or Duathlon.

Full details of the event can be found on the Triangle Triathlon Club Website and on their Facebook page.
