Juveniles Day is a wonderful success

JUVENILES Day was held on Sunday September 5 and it attracted a large number of young golfers. The poor weather did not deter them one iota.

It was an exciting day and the results were as follows:

Small Cup: Nathan Barnes beat Gary McConville 3 and 2. (Incidentally, Gary’s father, Benny, lost in the final 40 years ago, to one F.R. M. Crozier.).

Russell Shield (best gross): Chris McAvoy 76.

Sean Broderick Cup: Scott Nelson 42 points.

Pepper Shield: Craig Kennedy 46 points.

John Magennis Cup (best primary schoolboy): Luke Crory.

Eric Bryson Cup (player of the year): Chris McAvoy.

Campbell Cup (best junior boy): John crory.

Ferguson Cup (best juvenile in senior order of merit): Matthew Mallon.

Lockhart Cup (senior girls): Amy McCoy 38 points.

Rosemary Cox Cup (junior girls): Megan Whan.

Boys 9 holes: Cormac Murray.

Those are the principal prizewinners but there were lots of other winners. The juveniles owe a vote of thanks to the main organisers, Lady Captain Mildred Hodgett, Susan Magennis, Trevor Woods and Trevor Mulholland.

And thanks too must go to the numerous sponsors and to the club professional, Jason Greenaway, for all his help and encouragement throughout the season.
