Kelly claims a priceless point as Bann Twos battle for second

Niall Kelly bagged a priceless goal in Banbridge Twos' season on Saturday.

He fired in a late equaliser for Banbridge Seconds as they held second placed Annadale Twos to a 1-1 draw at Havelock Park.

The goal and the result keeps alive Bann’s hopes of finishing second in Junior One, still two points behind Annadale but with a game in hand.

The strong Annadale side passed the ball quickly and fluidly and controlled the majority of this half. Despite this, the Bann side gave everything right up until the half time whistle and denied Annadale the lead.

Shortly into the second half, Annadale took the lead after some intelligent play around the Banbridge quarter.

Being a goal down sparked a force of determination in the Bann squad and they attacked the opposition’s goal relentlessly. Banbridge dominated this half and played some excellent hockey at times.

Then, in the dying moments of the game, the Banbridge players strung together some excellent passes and an end line run from Nathan Liggett, swiftly followed by a pass back to the flick spot, allowed Niall Kelly to score the equaliser.

Bann now entertain Kilkeel on Wednesday night before travelling to Garvey Thirds for their last game of the season.
